We can talk to God at all times.
Elementary
No matter what circumstances we are in, we can pray to God and He will hear our prayers and help us experience His goodness.
Tell About It
Here are some questions to ask your child to review the Bible story and verse:
• Why do you think the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray?
• God is our perfect Father who always loves us, always helps us and never leaves us. How does it make you feel to know that Jesus says we should call God our “Father”?
• Why do you think Jesus told the story about the two neighbors?
• How do you think talking to God about your worries will help?
• Why do you think God wants us to pray to Him?
Live It!
As a family, choose one or more of these activities to live out what your child is learning at SonQuest Rainforest.
• Establish a time for your family to pray together one or more times a week. Collect three colors of Post-it Notes. Have your family write or dictate prayer items on separate colors of notes: personal requests, requests for others, reasons to thank God. Everyone places their Post-it Notes on a large sheet of paper and prays together. When a prayer request has been answered, thank God for answering the prayer and move the Post-it Note to an “Answered Prayer” section.
• Play a family game together. List animals and objects which make sounds people can imitate (dog, cow, wind, trumpet, truck backing up, etc.). Write each description on a separate slip of paper. Fold papers and put them in a hat. One person takes a paper from the hat and makes the sound described on the paper. First one to correctly guess that sound makes the next sound. Talk about the words your family says. Thank God that you have voices to use in prayer to Him.
• Take turns humming the first three notes of SonQuest Rainforest songs or other worship songs for others to guess. Hum additional notes as needed.

Philippians 4:6-7
by Mary Gross Davis
Do not be anxious about anything,
But in everything,
By prayer and petition,
With thanksgiving,
Present your requests to God.
And the peace of God will guard your hearts,
And the peace of God will guard your minds;
The peace of God will guard
Your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Do not be anxious about anything, (Don’t worry!)
But in everything, (All the time!)
By prayer and petition,
With thanksgiving,
Present your requests to God.
And the peace of God will guard your hearts,
And the peace of God will guard your minds;
The peace of God will guard
Your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
The peace of God will guard
Your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
