Summer Hummer 2010

Summer Hummer Highlights

Announcements - Today all campers made gospel bracelets - ask your camper what it means!

If your child has a food allergy, remind them to ask their counselor for an alternative snack.  It's going to be warm on Wednesday so remember to back a water bottle.

We love all the coins that are being collected for the Dong People.  We have some change available and your campers are exchanging the dollar bills for coins.  The Jumping Jaguars (Half Day Camp) have brought in the heaviest buckets for both Monday and Tuesday!  Way to go.

On Wednesday, The Reptile Man is coming to share with the Half Day campers.

The Food Bank is bringing about 20 lunches each day to offer to those campers who forgot their lunch.  Thank you!

MOPS - Mothers of Preschoolers: Meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month at 9:30 beginning in September.  HERE

Life Discovery

Preschool/Kindergarten
God sent Jesus to show how much He loves us.

Elementary
Jesus’ death and resurrection make it possible for each person to experience God’s love forever.

Tell About It
Here are some questions to ask your child to review the Bible story and verse:

• How many sheep were lost? Why do you think the shepherd looked for just one sheep?

• Name a way that God is like the shepherd in today’s story.

• Name a way we are like the lost sheep in today’s story.

• What does John 3:16 tell us about God? About Jesus? What does God promise in this verse?

• What are some other ways God shows He loves us?

Live It!
As a family, choose one or more of these activities to live out what your child is learning at SonQuest Rainforest.

• Purchase a scrapbook and fill it with pictures and mementos of the previous year. Make it a family project by asking everyone to decorate their own page, selecting their own pictures and mementos and writing captions for the pictures.

• Bake chocolate chip cookies together as a family, reserving about 1 cup of chocolate chips to play a fun

Bible memory game.
On different parts of a sheet of paper, print phrases of John 3:16 in random order. Give each family member some chocolate chips and a straw. The first person puts a straw in his or her mouth, picks up a chocolate chip by sucking through the straw and places the chocolate chip in the first phrase of the verse. He or she continues through the verse, sucking through the straw to move and place chocolate chips to show verse order. Say the verse together as a family as each person finishes. Eat the cookies after each family member has had several turns.

• Pray together for the children around the world who will be helped by our VBS mission project.

God Gave - WATCH HERE
John 3:16
by Jamie Owens Collins
Chorus:
For God so loved the world
That He gave His one and only Son;
That whoever believes in Him
Shall not perish.
For God so loved the world
That He gave His one and only Son;
That whoever believes in Him
Shall not perish
But have eternal life.
God gave because He loves us;
God gave His Son.
God gave because He loves us,
Loves us every one.
Jesus died and rose again
To lead us safely home again
And if we put our trust in Him
We will live forever.
Repeat Chorus
But have eternal life.
